View Full Version : New search engine
Has anyone used the new search engine Cuil (www.cuil.com) yet? If so what did you think about it? Does it have the potential to replace Google some day (after some time and further development ofcourse, it looks like it's still in beta faze)?
I think it's got a better privacy policy than Google and the search results are much better organized and often even more relevant to the actual search than the results of the same searh with Google. The main complaints I have with it so far are only it's slow speed and it doesn't support more advnced search options.
So...if anyone's tried it I'd love to hear your opinions on it.

I think Google is the best search engine.
No Ziga i have not tried it, as you know using Mint you have the mint google page which i use as funds from using this go towards helping the mint development team. But from what i have read it says that its supposed to be faster and has a multi column format, not sure if id like that but hey i will have to try it then decide.

Yeah , i heard of Cuil, its pretty good but i think that google will be around for a long time. I see that cuil is in beta phaze couse it doesn't have advanced search options. Well for now, Google owns.
Yeah I still use Google as well...Cuil still needs some work but as I said, I like their privacy policy better than Google's and I like the column layout of the search results - I think it's easier and more handy to browse through.
I tried it but did not find it that impressive to be honest, but as you say, it has some need of further development.
I am sure it fine, however I always stick with Google, it nice and simple to used and doesn't have lots annoying bit of information loading up on the page :)
PS! has anyone ever seen the Irish version of Google, it called Doogle, and I think it base on the comedy Father Ted :-D
Word of warning it is loud and some may find it offensive, although I find it quite amusing

There are a lot of these Google mirror search engines similar to Doogle, such as Googoth (www.googoth.com) and Elgoog (http://www.alltooflat.com/geeky/elgoog/).
under the post Google "Easter Eggs" you can find several more.
I will stick with Google, it pretty much does everything I need.
