I was working at the cat shelter today and there's a guy who volunteers with me. He volunteers because he has to and is ordered by the state so he can keep his disability benefits. Well, this morning we find out that he's only scooping litter and not emptying water or filling up food or cleaning cages. He hasn't been doing it for months and 2 others observed him. I had to come up from working with the sick cats and start babysitting him. Watching him to see if he did stuff right. The head person confronted him and he had to do the whole waters again and food and clean the cages that he missed. Im glad she did. I dont know where people's brains are sometimes! Now every Tuesday I have to watch him and make sure he does it right. I loved it when I didnt have to worry about who was working with me and they also did it right. Plus its sickening that he does this since the cats need the right care.

Oh Katie that's just awful! It's horrible when people don't do there jobs right but especially so when they are supposed to be caring for someone!
Is there anyway to force him to do the work without being surpervised, perhaps by informing the people paying him?? Surely there must be a better way than having someone babysit him.
I hope he smartens up soon so you don't have to worry about him all the time

Im sorry that you have to take time from your duties at the shelter to watch over this other guy. Its horrible how some people take care of animals. Your right, the cats in the shelter do deserve the proper care. Im glad they have you on their side to help them out.
Oh my, that is just awful!
They should kick him out and take away his benefits!
If he's got to do this work to maintain his benefit and he's not carrying out his duties correctly then the shelter is within their rights to report him.
These poor cats are reliant on those working at the shelter, so by him not doing the job propelry they could suffer. :(
I hope he bucks his idea's up soon.
That is so sad, I agree with Brenda, kick him out.
